Shatura Co. and WWF to launch the program of Russian wood certification. |

Shatura Co. effects regularly the arrangements for increasing environmental friendliness of its production processes and products. In 2004 Expert RA rating agency estimated the level of company's ecological responsibility as ecoB++ i.e. satisfactory. It implies reasonably low ecological risks related to the company's production activity, the system of ecological management as well as the transparancy of its environmental protection activity.
The company's staff has developed the long-term complex ecological program to set the new system of practically full utilization of wood scrap as well as annual decrease of total water consumption. In 2004 Shatura Co. appropriated a total of more than 26 mln roubles for ecological activities. It should be noted that the "The eco-ratings of RF's lumber industry" project is held under initiative of WWF's Russian department.
The co-operation of the Company and WWF began with former's entry into WWF's Corporate Club to join other companies willing to show their social responsibility and help environmental protection. Now Club unites 29 companies of the most different lines of business. These include Coca-Cola Co., Rambler TeleSet, Alpha-Bank, M.Video etc. WWF develops an individual co-operation program that consults interests and specific features of every organization that is the Club member.
In 2004 WWF celebrated the 10th anniversary of functioning in Russia along with more than 150 projects fulfilled in 47 regions of the country. The Shatura furniture company is to become the first domestic furniture business after implementation of all planned arrangements on developing and installing wood certification mechanism which would be absolutely sure in legality of its raw mat. used for chip plate production. No corresponding guarantees can be provided by any of furniture manufacturers in Russia.
